Kobaien
Founded in 1577. Japan's oldest ink making company in Nara.
The name "ink" is said to have been handed down from "stains". It is said that the 18th year of Emperor Suiko (610 AD), the monk Damjing of Goguryeo, introduced the ink-making method to Japan.
Time has passed, and ink was made in various places even after the Meiji era, but now only Kobaien continues to make it by inheriting the traditional manufacturing method.
Artist Gen Miyamura
In this project, we are welcoming the ink artist Gen Miyamura as a collaboration artist. Gen Miyamura is an up-and-coming writer who, after studying "calligraphy" professionally until graduate school, has published many abstract expressions that boldly interpret the aesthetic sense of "calligraphy".
In conventional calligraphy activities, he has won the Mainichi Shodo Association member, which is the highest award in his 30s, at the Mainichi Shodo Association, a national public exhibition that represents Japan. In addition, in my personal writer activities, I am participating in many art projects and design projects by expanding the field of expression more freely.
