Product comment
- The design may seem reminiscent of Mexican huarache sandals, but the design approach is different. These woven sandals are inspired by the abalone knots made with woven mizuhiki, a traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
It has excellent hold and breathability, and can be adjusted with a buckle. The upper is made of high-quality vachetta leather, which ages beautifully the longer you wear it. The size is slightly large.
TOKYO SANDAL
TOKYO SANDAL is a "MADE IN TOKYO" sandal produced in Asakusa using shoemaking and bootmaking techniques, and is suited to the Japanese climate.
The most distinctive feature of these sandals is the shape of the footbed, which was developed from the perspective of ergonomics and podiatry. This three-dimensional shape stabilizes the foot bones, supports comfortable walking, and relieves various foot pains.
This complex shape is made using only two pieces of bends (thick cowhide). This is a method of making molded plywood, which is a respect for the way skateboards are made.
(In Japan, Tendo Mokko is famous for using this method to manufacture and sell stretch fraise designed by Yanagi Sori.) TOKYO SANDAL applies this method to leather, achieving just the right amount of bending and flexibility, creating the best performance for a walking aid.
Furthermore, the sandals are stitch down to the boot, making them tough and easy to replace the soles. They also fit well to your feet, and the leather ages beautifully, making them one-of-a-kind leather sandals that you can wear for a long time.
