MonoStereo is a brand started as a solo project in 2022 by COLBY BLACK, who worked for a major USA apparel company for 17 years, in various roles including merchandising manager and executive director, before becoming chief product officer of a major outdoor retail company. The brand is based in Malibu, a beach city in Southern California, USA.
The collection is inspired by the lifestyle of locals living in Malibu, a wealthy beach area, who live a hippie-style life reminiscent of California's surf and skate culture of the 1970s and 1980s, wearing baggy plaid shirts, worn cut-and-sew tops, and denim, despite being wealthy.The collection is designed around the theme of "rich hippie."
The fabrics used are of high quality, from a fabric store that has many fashion brands as customers. The clothes are casual yet comfortable to wear. All products are made in USA.
